How do I get the Qualification without doing a course?

Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) like Intellitrain, are required to be flexible in how we allow someone to prove their competency, skills and knowledge against a particular qualification.

Intellitrain have worked hard to ensure our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) processes are fair and flexible to assist you gaining the recognition you deserve for your hard work and years of experience. RPL is a process of providing evidence that you are already operating at the required level of the qualification. We give you a set of instructions to follow in order to compile the evidence we need. The process will vary from qualification to qualification.

Can I fail at this?

There is no pass or fail with RPL. If the assessor judges that you have not successfully demonstrated some of the skills and knowledge, the assessor can then assist to identify what gap training is required (at an additional cost). You can still get RPL for the individual units you were judged competent in. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can appeal the decision. How do I complete the RPL?

• Students complete the entire RPL Process online – alleviating the need for collection of paper
• All the evidence you need to complete the RPL is detailed on our online portal itrain
• Students have 6 months to complete their RPL process. Extensions are granted on a case-by-case basis
• Our Trainers are available to support the student throughout the process via telephone and email
• Our assessors are notified the moment the last piece of evidence is uploaded – this means the assessor can provide timely feedback and issue the qualification if 'competent'

What evidence do I need to complete the RPL?

Intellitrain has developed an online RPL process which outlines all the evidence and activities required to complete the qualification. The types of evidence listed in the RPL process can vary slightly in each qualification (see specific courses for a more detailed description of evidence).

RPL Evidence:

• Declarer's assessment (third party observation by a supervisor in the industry)
• Declarer's resume (to ensure the declarer is suitable and experienced in the industry)
• Your resume (outlining your experience within the industry)
• 3 business references (testimonials from clients)
• Activities (in some qualifications you will be instructed to complete questions to determine current skills and knowledge) OR
• Case files (in some qualifications you will be instructed to upload specific case files relevant to the qualification)
• Student declaration (declaring that it is your own work and acknowledges completion of the RPL)

 All the evidence is uploaded online using our itrain portal.

How am I assessed?

Once you have uploaded all your assessments, completing the student declaration at the end of your RPL will notify your assessor that you have completed. The assessor will make a judgement on your level competency and if necessary, will provide feedback and advice regarding any units you did not meet the competency requirements.

You must demonstrate competency with no more than two (2) re-submissions. The assessor will identify any gaps in your skill/knowledge and suggest further training to be completed. Any gap training will incur an additional cost.

Outcome

On successful completion of the RPL course the Qualification will be issued.
